The third installment of "Bush League Justice" on MSNBC Live with Dan Abrams continued last night with an investigation into how the DoJ has targeted Democrats for investigation and prosecution. In fact, one study shows that Democrats have been investigated and prosecuted at nearly six times the rate of Republicans at the federal level.

I don't think enough has been done to illuminate just how dangerous this level of intimacy between the white house and the DoJ is, including the historical (and legal) precedence of eliminating the safe guards against the politicization of the Department of Justice.
Ultimately, is anyone really surprised by this?
It's the same story, just a different modus operandi. He appoints cronies to positions that he can do so but for a position like an attorney who is supposed to be free from political entanglement...he'll go up the chain and hire a boss that he knows will play ball and fire whomever he wishes.
Rove has continued and greatly expanded a despicable quiver of shortcuts and subversion that undermine the checks and balances that are intended to prevent this type of massive manipulation of government and supposedly external and unbiased news sources.

    I guess then it is right. Why is it that everytime someone points out an obvious discrepancy in the activities of this administration, people try to justify by saying some past Democratic President did it? The fact of the matter remains, no other President, Democrat or Republican has done it on such a grand scale.

      You are correct. We are looking at what is done not what the relationship is to the individuals.
      Back in the 60's Robert Kennedy did investigate and proceed on issues that his brother the president would not approve, but then in that day and age the DOJ was free to do its own thing without political interference.

        ...they are not being allowed to interfere or investigate by a secretive president who also wants to protect his failed image. The law and precedent allow the president's advisors to testify unless an issue of national security only. How un-american of you Klarris to want to do away with the check and balances which earned this country respect around the world.

      I seem to remember that Clinton fired almost all of them and replaced them with his own henchmen. That is the preogerative of the president. There were ongoing cases that were time limited that the new Democrat appointees just deliberately slip through the cracks. And you say Bush is worse?????

Also, Clinton never had the head of the justice Department say the ones released at the start were released for cause like Gonzo said. More revisionist history failures on your part again!         Did I say he fired them at the beginning of his second term? They didn't even say why they got rid of most of them. Possibly to make room for his people. The president (Clinton) has that right at any time he wants. And no I don't listen to Rush although when I was able he made a lot of sense because he said what I was thinking and thought logical. That is different that the feel good Democrat way. The only way that Gonzales was asked was because the congress stuck its nose where it did not belong. Those firings were at the discretion of the president and NOT anybodies business. Travelgate over a similar issue went nowhere didn't it.

    Klarissa, Robert F. Kennedy went after organized crime, and fought for civil rights.
    Bush's cronies go after Democrats for political gain, and to pursue a permanent majority, which would in effect be one party rule by the neo-con dominated GOP.

  My bad, Alphagnosis did a story on Joe Biden. It's on the front page of Propeller. It references the debate. She believes that Biden is the candidate to vote for in 2008.

  Oh, but he is running. He's running away from justice and running away with America's future. This is about stopping the insanity of a President gone mad.
  So, please don't confuse going after a criminal with next year's elections. They are separate stories even if there are political overtones and implications to each.

Glad to see a national perspective on the former Alabama Governer's case as here in Alabama all the local news and newspapers only publish the right wing side that condemned Siegelman. Two folks testified against Bob, one unreliable and the other implicated Repugs too, who went uncharged and uninvestigated (new news to me).
What do you expect from a state the Dems didn't even bother to put money into for the last two presidential elections, and which consistently sends an admitted racial bigot to the Senate, Jeffrey Beauregard Sessions, III.
